I can watch the staging in Gondo-san's house over and over. It's not the least bit dated. Precision and clarity in every frame. Kubrick could have matched it technically yet would've failed to bring the emotions to the requried simmer.
ReplyDeleteCheck out the mirrorshades moment in the alley near the junkies! Japan was catapulted into the future ahead of all of us. And it didn't know it, even through the 60s.
