The Seattle P-I reports that Alexander Courage died on May 15. He was 88. Thanks for the music.
Harvey Korman died today after. He was 81. Thanks for the many laughs.

RIP, Earle Hagen

I read in the P-I today that Earle Hagen has died. He was 88.

RIP Bebe Barron

Bebe and Louis Barron composed the score and effects tracks for Forbidden Planet. The NYT has a nice obituary.
It mentions how the music and effects are not readily distinguishable which adds a lot to the movie's portrayal of alieness. I think they may have missed out on some dramatic possibilities through their technique, but it is hard to argue with success.

Charlton Heston RIP

Charlton Heston has died. Happily for me I can separate his acting from his annoying politics. If I had to choose a favorite performance, I would be torn between Ben Hur and Planet of the Apes. Or maybe The Ten Commandments and Soylent Green.

Jane Wyatt Passed Away

Jane Wyatt died in her sleep on Friday. She was 96.
She came to my attention playing the part of Spock's mother. I was too young to have seen her on Father Knows Best. Much later I discovered Lost Horizon and was much taken with Jane Wyatt's performance. That movie is one of my favorites, mostly for its Utopian mysticism, but also because of the character Sondra.
