Not exactly sure, but the second standing figure from the left knows something and is concealing something the portly woman next to her urged her to take.
This is incredible. I love ambiguity in art. It reminds me of the first time I saw "At the Moulin Rouge". So many levels and emotions.
I think almost of a deathbed for some reason when I look at it. Or maybe dream-state. The darker characters definately seem more substantial while the others have this really fascinating wraith quality. Good stuff!!
