The new economy sucks

Immigration raid cripples Ga. town: "Stacie Bell, 23, started work canning chicken at Crider a week ago. She said the pay, $7.75 an hour, led her to leave her $5.60-an-hour job as a Wal-Mart cashier in nearby Statesboro. Still, Bell said she felt bad about the raids."

  1. As an incredibly pompous and self-regarding reader of your blog (which note I do not pay for in any way) it is URGENT that you address my concerns. If you ever post about politics or economics or anything social or remotely UNRELATED to films, film scores, Bionicles and your own idiosyncratic expressions, consider my relationship with your blog to have reached its terminus. No one wants evidence of the horror of real life, sir, when mischievous goobery little things can be viewed. Where do you commie simps get off. Don't answer that.

  2. But it is exactly the "real" mixed with the fantasy of this site that makes it both charming and approachable. If the blog creater only watched movies and played with legos - he would be laughable. His ability to borrow or create alternative realities while still being rooted in the times we live in, the real moral battles we face is what makes it speak to us. We watch the Toa Maiden conquer her foes - we watch while Immigration conquers a town - there is symetry and truth there. Living without truth is not living - it is hiding.
